Just wanted to announce the birth of Benjamin Louis Giersch. He was born as 12:50 pm, wieghing 8oz and coming in at 21 inches, via vaginal delivery. All of us are well, but very tired. I'll update with pictures and a birth story in a few days.

I just discovered an awesome blog. Awful Library Books, which is about hilariously out-of-date and/or very odd books that have been weeded from libraries. Such gems include "Romance Writers' Phrase Book" and "How to Start Your Own Secretarian Services Business at Home". This recipe was originally made by my mother in-law, and has been Lou's favorite dessert for many years. It's fairly simple to make, doesn't use a lot of ingredients, and is very tasty!

One of the nice things about living away from the city is that we actually get to see a bit of nature and local wildlife. This afternoon Louis and I spotted this little guy munching on some grass in our backyard. We've seen a few of them around the neighborhood, usually around dusk. This was the first time we saw one on our property.

Just when I thought I was in the clear, my throat starts hurting. Damn it! It hurts to swallow, my ears and nose are plugged, and I just feel all around fuzzy. I seem to be fairing better than Louis did when he was sick though. He had a full on fever and lost the ability to get off the couch. As of now, my journal is going to be Friends Only. Comment if you want to be added, but I tend to only friend people who I know in real life, or who I have made friends with through various LJ communities.

I thought these videos were pretty interesting. It really shows how much effort can be put into photo editing to achieve the "ideal" look in print ads and men's magazines. I always knew that pictures can be touched up, but I didn't realize to what extent ( Read more... )

I guess we're having a real winter here. It's been icy and cold, and we've had snow every couple of days. It's kind of nice as I don't have to go to work, but then I can't really go anywhere else either. I do have Louis, WoW, wedding stuff, and books to keep me occupied.

Hardly any snow this morning, so no snow day. I'm very disappointed. Also, Louis was very tired last night but didn't go to bed until I did (around 11) so he was very grumpy and every time I would turn, or bump my hand against his back or anything, he would get really pissy and snap at me.
