Animorphs, a reclist: the Shippy edition

SHIPPY FICS

I could write a whole lot of meta on shipping in the Animorphs fandom, but I'll restrain myself.

NOTE: This is not an exhaustive list by any means.  The fics aren’t in any particular order, and the fact that I’ve commented on some and not others doesn’t signify anything in particular.

u Marco/Rachel  (I love this pairing, and I wish there was more out there about them!)

Afterwards by rhap_chan [950 words, G]
I always sort of thought we'd end up together.

Comments: If Marco really did like Rachel, this is exactly how I see it.  Very well written and insightful.

Untitled piece by hecatehatesthat [600 words, not rated - I would say M]

I'm more of the mocking-the-profundities-of-the-universe type. You may have noticed.

prepare your heart not to stop too soon by nyonyo [880 words, PG]

a·ni·morphs. n. Idiot teenagers with a death wish.

u Jake/Marco

Untitled piece by chaoscentral [3900 words, R]

But as far as the closet situation goes, all you really need to know is that it started with the principal.

Comments: Very cute and funny.

Once in Awhile by Forlay [2600 words, PG-13.]

Shocked after hearing of Cassie's engagement, Jake finds himself at Marco's house alone on a dark and stormy night. Slash.
Comments: The formatting on Forlay’s stories is unfortunate, as she’s written some great stuff.

Whispers and Shouts by Nova Adams [2330 words, NC-17.]

Marco's struggling with some unwanted feelings.

Comments: the first Animorphs slash story ever!

u Ax/Marco

Sunflower Kisses by Kay [8500 words, not rated - I’d say PG.]

A chance meeting in a sunflower field brings interesting revelations.

Comments: this is a really lovely piece and would work just as well as a friendship story.  Unfortunately you can only find it here in .txt format, so you’ll need to cut and paste it into Word to read.

Dropping the A-Bomb by lizzypaul [3000 words, PG-13]

Ax has a secret that everyone knows.

Adventures in Clubbing by Doctor Strangelove [32500 words, PG-13.]

Infiltrating The Sharing's new club creates a whole lot of trouble for Marco as he starts to fall for one of his friends and one of the Controllers. Slash [MarcoAx, MarcoTom].

Comments: This was the flagship Marco/Ax fic, as far as I can tell.  It’s a lot of fun.

Be Stupid by Jinako-Chan (aka felinephoenix) [51400 words, PG-13.]

Marco broke up with his girlfriend and Ax left his strict upbringing. Neither one of them expected the results and revelations of that one night. Finished fic, takes place after #54.

Going the Distance by Lokaia [1420 words, PG].

Slash, MarcoAx. Soap operas seem like something those two could bond over.

Strange Bedfellows by Forlay [5000 words, PG-13.]

When Tobias plays a little matchmaker and a blizzard traps Ax at Marco's house, some interesting revelations are made.

Welcome home by sarisia [5500 words, NC-17]

Comments: Hot and well written.

Back to School by lizzypaul [5000 words.  NC-17.]

Marco doesn't want to take advantage of his helpless virgin Andalite.

Comments: There are a lot of fics based on the Ax-discovers-sex premise, but this is one of the best.

Don’t forget to check out the Ax/Marco Ship Manifesto!

u Cassie/Marco

Morality of everything by lizzypaul [1140 words, PG-13]

"I brought cookies, and hoped that Cassie hadn't gone vegan."

Comments: Cassie puts the moves on Marco!  You know you want to read it.

u Tobias/Marco

And Now For Something Completely Different by lizzypaul [930 words, PG-13]

A little shock therapy courtesy of Dr. Marco.

Comments: Strange pairing, but I enjoyed this piece.

u Cassie/Rachel

Monopoly by moriath [1800 words, PG-13]

With age comes wisdom, and with wisdom comes bitterness. Of course they were pawns in a cosmic game. A cosmic game that perhaps no one could win.

Comments: This is more of a character piece, really, and very nicely done.

I’ll Be Here by Forlay [5300 words, M.]

Rachel and Cassie discuss shopping, men ... and each other.

u Jake/Tobias

Adjuvant Attraction by Rhi Marzano [1400 words, R.]

Comments: I adore this fic.  It contains some brilliant character insights and really sold me on a pairing that I’d never considered.  Continued in Repercussions.  (There are a couple more sequels).

Footprints in the Snow by Lokaia [1000 words, PG.]

Slash, JakeTobias. Just a day at home with memories and bad TV.

u Rachel/Tobias

Pure Sunshine by basicaquatics [7300 words, PG-13.]

"Look, Pinocchio," she whispered.  "You're a boy."

Comments: Featuring live!Rachel (personally, I’m all for this in fanfic).  A thoughtful and romantic piece which doesn’t gloss over the issues in their relationship.

Untitled by senri [730 words, PG-13]

He started forgetting. It was a hawk thing to do.

u Multiple

War, Family and the Lost Art of Conversation by nightwalker [2500 words, not rated - I’d say PG]

Family Dinner Night at Rachel's. Marco stresses, Jake stresses, Rachel runs roughshod over the masses and Tobias tries to assassinate a bottle of Coke.

Comments: Rachel/Tobias and Marco/Jake.  Lovely and well-written with some good character insights.  The author has also written another Jake/Marco.

I welcome comments, and feel free to rec me other fics!
