The story: A friend of mine recently moved into a new house, and I was helping her scope out the basement. We happened to look in a cabinet underneath the sink. Is anyone else jarred by the 'love had long since calcified' bit at the start? I read it as her love hardened, which just leads to a lot of confusion.
