coldplay is so the english dave matthews band! just cause you smack an accent and more hair on it don't make it good.

dana, just give in. I don't believe for one minute that Coldplay are the English Dave Matthews, they aren't. Similar, but not the same. Dave couldn't make me cry if he wanted to, just listen to the Scientist and Chris will be your man forever.

i made up a theory awhile back that i still stick to:
you can divide the world up into people who listen to dave matthews and people who don't.

i pretty much, as a rule, can't relate to anyone who falls in the former.

I have that very theory as well. Another one I live by that was told to me by one of the guys in Shelter, "Don't trust anyone who doesn't like the Smiths". So true.

oh no. does this mean i am forever taken off your list? i'm sorry, i just can't get into dave matthews. BUT i do go by the sort of same thing myself... i've learned not to trust people who don't like the smiths (just as jen b said) OR zepplin.

HAHAHAHAHA, I met a guy at Virgin once who was horrified that I was buying AC/DC CDs. I was like, ARE YOU NUTS?

But yeah, I associate Coldplay with stupid people that I know that like them...other bands in that category are The White Stripes and The Strokes. Plus I was not much impressed by Coldplay (or the Stripes for that matter). However, I wasn't much impressed by a lot of bands that I now love, so go figure.

Dave Matthews however, is not even on the list of bands that I might like one day.

hahahah! that's amazing... people are so crazy about getting in people's biz when they purchase things. it's like, shut it!

but yeah, i know what you mean about the stripes and the strokes. the stripes... there are some songs i'm like, eh and some i find myself bouncing to. i always find myself bouncing to the strokes when they are on even if they did blatanly steal from the buzzcocks, whatever. i guess they steal well?
