Terrible news...

I just received an email passing on the heartbreaking news that minotaurs passed away this morning, and I'm sitting here in stunned disbelief and denial. Stuart was one of the first fans I met outside my local group, and for my first three or four years in fandom, at every con I went to - and there were at least three or four a year - I shared a room with

What a loss. It doesn't seem possible.

I know - I can't seem to make myself believe it, that we'll to Escapade and he won't be there. I got the email last night, from a friend of his who I met at con.txt, who wanted to spread the word into fandom, and I spent fifteen minutes reading and re-reading it, unable to accept that it could be real. Just so terrible.

He was a wonderful guy; I'm sorry you never had a chance to meet him. It's a huge loss for fandom - for all of us. He was so young - life is just so short.

My very first Connexions, sharing that room with you and him...I'll never forget it. It won't be the same without him. I'm still stunned, and yes, so sad...he was too young; I never imagined there would be fandom without him in it.

I know he was special to you. I'm sorry to have had to break the news to you this way.

I immediately thought of you. I send you virtual hugs and I have to say, though I didn't know him well, he was a big personality and he will be missed.

Thanks. It's a loss for all of us...he was a big personality, and a really great guy. And too young. It's hard for me to imagine fandom without him.

I can't imagine fandom without him either--I met him at my first con, his website was one of the first slash fannish websites I found, and he has felt like an integral part of fandom to me since then. I'm just in shock. But I am so, so sorry for his close friends. Take good care, sweetie. {{{hugs}}}

I met him at my first con, too; shared a room with him, in fact, and treewishes, and I'll never forget it. An integral part of fandom - that's exactly right. It's impossible for me to imagine what it will be like to be at Escapade without him - or con.txt, for that matter. I don't want to think about it. Such a loss for all of us, and so damn sad...
