So yeah, that's about how I feel. When's the last time I posted about a con? Squeed about a con? Made a long post about a con, or even anything fannish? I can't even remember (even though I've certainly had plenty of fun at cons over the past few years). It was starting to feel like maybe I needed to turn in my fangirl credentials

(Were you down here for Sanj's party? I missed that, which just sucked!)

is there a way to indicate a dreamwidth user from within LJ?
There is! Arguably there are two ways -- heh -- but the from-entirely-within-LJ way is like this:

Second - I do have a DW account, actually (I'm justacat over there, surprise surprise *g*). Just haven't started posting there yet - too many of the people and communities I follow are only on LJ, and I don't want my comments split, so I'm sticking with LJ for the moment - not crossposting - though eventually I might start - I'll rethink this periodically.
In the meantime, thanks for this info; it's exactly what I wanted to know. When you say set up a macro, though - what kind of macro? In Word? Some other program?

Well, I'm on a Mac, and I use a program called Typinator that watches for certain snippets of text and expands them as I've directed, no matter what I'm doing in any program. So for instance, any time I type "mklu" (which stands in my head for "make LiveJournal user"), it replaces those four characters with "" (where CLIPBOARD = the contents of my clipboard, of course). I have several dozen such abbreviations, which I use for everything from HTML/journal code like that bit to canned queries for authors whose books I'm editing (you have no idea how tired I can get of typing out the explanation of why it is perfectly acceptable to split an infinitive OMG). There are a bunch of such programs for the Mac, and I imagine there are for PCs as well, though I have no idea what they might be. Search your usual software sources for "text expander" or "abbreviations" or such terms ( ... )

jarrow really does get right to the heart of things, doesn't he? I hope you get a chance to talk to him further!
As always, it was wonderful to see you.

If you come to Bitchin' Party (Pacificon), you'll see jarrow there, since that's his hometown. I'm sure he'd be happy to talk vids with you -- he's generally happy to talk vids with anybody. I think his ability to sum up exactly what's needed to get you into a vid probably comes from his natural gifts as a teacher. I admire that very much.
And yes, Premieres set-up was great! I am always so glad to help the con, and I love that it gives me quality time with friends.

You, meanwhile, would really like con.txt, I think. Lots of emphasis on really good panels, but also a lot of fun/socializing, with a party modeled roughly on Club Vivid and a great combo con suite/dealers room/art show...

I am absolutely blown away that my vids moved you this much and that my vid review comments were so helpful! I really had no idea (even after our conversation afterwards), and I am deeply humbled. Thank you so much!

Seriously, though - it's I who should be thanking you, though I'm glad you enjoyed the post, and you're very welcome (will I thank you when I'm weeping over SFU, which I have a feeling I will be...? ;-).
Aside from the pleasure of your vids, I really do mean what I said about your comments. I've heard a lot of people review and comment on and attempt to explain vids, to me and more broadly, over the years, so it's not empty praise. Maybe it's the teacher skills, as Laura said (though I didn't know you were a teacher) - whatever it is; your way of looking at the vids, breaking them down, seeing them and then articulating that, seems to work with the way my mind works - I realized that almost immediately, after only a few vids had been reviewed, and kind of wished everyone else would just shut up so I could hear more of your comments *g* - and I so appreciate that ( ... )
