[ voice ] Confiscating Pirate Ships, hello new feathers, teaching self-defense

Jul 22, 2011 02:34

Hello new feathers and old.

First off, I'm Captain Smoker. [Those who know otherwise can point out that he's a commodore, and that it doesn't even matter in this place.] I teach kickboxing, basic self defense, and jitte for anyone who would need it. I can also help spar against swordsmen if they're looking to expand their skills. Every so ( Read more... )

jitte, kickboxing, pirate scum, pirate trash, confiscating all pirate ships, pirates are idiots, marines are better, ships

Captain. I think it's honorable you're offering self-defense classes to civs and non-combatants.

On the second point, I don't think it could be too hard to organized. I realize the biggest issue is people coming and going unexpectedly, but I think an organized system could be worked out. Beyond that, how about some kind of city-wide warning system like a warning bell that can be heard all over town?

Whatever. [He handles compliments so awesomely.]

Makes sense. I think between the blacksmiths, Donatello and Robert, they should even be able to create a link to the journals for it, since everyone usually keeps that on them.

I realize the journals are a good communication system in itself, but you always have to prepare for the situation of someone not having their journal on them or not paying attention to the journal for any number of valid reasons.

I rarely remember my journal, so yes, I'd prefer something that relied on people instead.

I just think a connection could be made to cover more bases.

Yes, that is true. The bell could be used to catch everyone's attention while a message could be sent out over the journals so everyone knows what's going on.

Though that brings up a good question; can other things be connected to the journals? Like if there were cellphones or laptops around.

Right.

Sorry, cellphones or what?

[Right. Different levels of technology in different worlds.]

Sorry, communication devices from my world. I suppose it doesn't matter as the stores seem to be bare of electronics in general, but I guess the question at hand is can you take one item and have it connected to the journals?

I'm not really sure. Back in my world I left that kind of thing up to the marine scientists. From what I've seen people here do though, they should be able to work something out, but there's magic involved too so that might throw off some of the "wiring" I suspect.

Regardless, it's something to think about.

I suppose the next step to figure out with a city-wide warning system is who would be in charge of it.

Ask some of the techno-wizards.

Hah. Hopefully a volunteer with lots of free time. And one who doesn't hate people. From there it should probably get passed down amongst ranks to handle individual tasks.

Isn't there a police group around of sorts? The Blue Rogues? Maybe some of their members can help?

Sounds reasonable enough. Assuming they're interested, of course.

An idea to be discussed with them. If not, I'm sure there are others who would be interested.

Since everyone seems to have it on their minds, I'm sure of it.

Should I count you amongst those numbers?

Of course. I believe in seeing ideas through.

That's two names already then. It'll at least get the ball rolling.
