Another Close Call

Nov 30, 2009 21:15

Just received a REALLY close call rejection from the Dark Faith Anthology. Seems it made it right up to the final cuts. Was a little bit bummed to be sure, but it was a really really nice rejection from buddy jerrygordon and a hell of an honor to have even come that close on this antho. I've been poking around on the internet and have assembled a small ( Read more... )

Buggers on the rejection, but Scheherezad's Facade looks pretty awesome. I have a transformation story, but there's nothing of gender-bending to it. That seems like a must for the antho. Do you have a story already? Or will you write a new one?

Not started yet, but after getting that rejection I decided to write a couple pages of outline (not structural outline so much as ideas for plot and subplot, setting characters) which is a good sign it might actually come together. If you wanna give this one a go let me know. Maybe we can exchange stories.

I'm here for you, babycakes. If you need a reader, just send it along when you're ready.

I think you read my story already, didn't you? The one I did for that contest/assignment I put on my LJ a while back??

I may just take you up on that. Actually, I had an idea for that competition and wanted to write it, but got crazy busy with work so I didn't get to look at your story. But would love to read something of yours.

Happens to us all I suppose. But I decided to take it more in a positive light, so it's all good. (Lucky it hit me in my rather optimistic cycle).

Thanks, Aliette. I have a feeling it will place somewhere given time. Just needs to find the right market. Scheherezade's Facade is an antho that I'd never have an idea for and then boom an idea popped into my head.

Ooh, might actually have a short story for them, if I can turn it into one (a character from a novel I never ever finished developing.) Whether I can do it before the deadline is another question of course.

Good luck with your own sub! :)

Cool, Chris! I hadn't heard much from you on the writing front. Good to hear you're still in the game. If you need an eye on it let me know. And yeah I'd say about 50% of the time I write for an antho I don't finish before the deadline, but then on the other hand the other 50% of the time it allows me to produce new stories whether they make it in or not (and then I can submit them around elsewhere).

Thanks Justin!

Yeah, I can be a bit in and out of it sometimes, but I never lose the faith :)

Oi, that was close. I'm sorry, Justin.

The Scheherazade's Facade antho is tempting, but I decided to work on my novel instead. Good luck if you write one for it!

Thanks, Sophy. Oh no I wouldn't let it take you out of the novel mode. But looks like it could be an interesting antho.
