So far, so good.  I arrived at Abu Ghraib yesterday morning.  I traveled by convoy, uneventfully might I add.  Apparently the rocket and mortar attacks by the insurgents have calmed down here in the past 2 weeks.  Ironically, they have picked up at Camp Liberty.  I am happy to be here, and happy to finally be working.  I am living in a tent, but ( Read more... )

I'm going to Abu Ghraib.

I'm very excited.  It is about 10 minutes west of Camp Liberty, so I will be traveling by convoy.  It is also home to one of the world's most famous prisons, for reasons you all know.  I am not sure when I am going, but should find out sometime tonight.

I don't have an address yet, but will post it when I get it.

Well, I've been here for over 3 weeks now. I still don't have my assignment, and I'm not sure when I will. Apparently there have been a few logistics problems. I'm not too worried about it, I'll be assigned eventually ( Read more... )

In hindsight, I probably didn't need to buy an alarm clock.. two Blackhawks fly over our tents at 5:15 every day and wake us up. We take our Firefighter II practical today, written exam on Saturday. We got to go to a Toby Keith concert on Monday.  He was here as part of the USO tour.  I've never been a really big country fan, but it was an excellent show.  A lot of the 3rd Infantry is from the south, so they all loved him.  Later that afternoon we took a tour of Liberty South, the other side of the base.  This base is huge, so none of us in my ( Read more... )
