If Gibbs hadn't been already been watching DiNozzo, having decided the young Detective was worth more than the expensive clothes suggested, he would have missed it. One second he was dealing with a very confident, and obviously capable Detective, the next he was watching a playboy at work.

The bolded bit threw me for a loop for a second, but then it all made sense. The effect was rather awesome.

Poor Jim and Blair, they were all set to lie to everyone, and now they're stuck telling the truth.

The first headslap was fantastic! It had a very natural feel to it.

Stunned, DiNozzo just looked at the Fed.

"You calm now?"

I just wish I knew how I actually wrote. That line snuck up on me too.

But the head-slap; it's not Gibbs-DiNozzo if there are no head slaps.
