I got all my hair chopped off yesterday, and it is way too short, and I absofrigginglutely do not like it, and I was putting away laundry last night and found one of my long, long hairs in a sweater and burst into tears. But I had to do it, and if I hadn't done it now, I would have done it in a couple weeks, and gone through this same thing then,

A few months after I left my first husband, I had to chop all of my hair off into a very short pixie cut. I cut it in solidarity with T, who had to cut it off due to a persistent case of head lice (which I didn't have) but he was very traumatized by having to cut his long, long hair which was down his back.

It was so humbling and healing for me to have this new identity. I didn't love it, it was hard for me to adjust because so much of my identity was wrapped up in my long hair. But it was such a transitional time in my life that somehow it felt right.

So I know how you feel, but I'm sure you look absolutely beautiful. ♥

It's just that - a new identity. It takes adjusting.

It's beautiful that you did that for Tao, though. I had to do the same thing (for lice) when I was ten, and I remember it being scary and strange. How wonderful to have his mama's solidarity.

hair will grow back...believe me, i know this since i got mine cut WAY too short a while back and had a fear of getting it cut again for approximately 4 YEARS. it looked pretty disgusting after all that time with not even a trim but atleast i didnt look butch. lol!

I hate cutting my hair. I feel that way every time I get sick of it and get it chopped off. I cry and pout and say "I am never doing this again" and Adrian gets mad at me because I always do.

THIS, exactly. EVERY TIME, I hate it and am sad and cry and vow not to do it again. Two years later, I'm debating: buzz cut or something just slightly less drastic? It Must Happen! ...rinse, repeat.
