The photo of your father holding his granddaughter is just gorgeous and brought tears to my eyes. I hope Myriam breathes hope and new life in your beautiful family.

I really like your new hair. Your long hair was gorgeous too, but shedding long hair can be so healing.

It really was one of the most beautiful moments of my life. He can't use his fingers almost at all, and his arms are so weak, but he'd clearly planned it out - he slid his palms under her head and bum and brought her in close so he could hold her weight. He kept bursting into tears and kissing her head. It was beautiful. These past couple of weeks have been the best we've had in a while, because of her. I hope when she's older she'll be able to understand what special timing her birth had for our family. I'm sad that she won't be able to know him as she grows up, but so glad that he gets to spend time with her.

Your hair is great. I really like it! Although, I can totally understand the grief that comes with cutting such long hair. My hair becomes like an extra limb after a while.

Also, that newborn is exceptionally beautiful. You took lovely pictures.

Yes to that... but I'm getting used to it. I actually liked it yesterday! :)

ISN'T SHE? She's so special. All newborns are so special... but she just amazes me. With as mindblowing as it's been falling for her, I'm now in complete awe of what it must be like to fall for your own baby!

Blow dryer my ass, Jessica. Do you think I have that kind of time? ;) But no, for real - what you're seeing there is the result of washing it and then running out the door. It dried on the windy street and on the metro. So. If your hair behaves as much like mine short as it does long, and you're okay with the messy look, you could pull it off.

Yes to your Jake theory, yes to a series of yarn dopplegangers (somehow I think there have to be good ones out there for you and your sister...), and YES to a million AWWWS for the baby! She was teeny - six pounds just about even.
