With the plain white t-shirt and trousers, you might think this is an ordinary Kaito, if a little monochrome. There's a newsboy cap tugged low over his right eye, and a stripy scarf wrapped securely around his neck (which he keeps tugging at, for some reason). Nice and normal... right?

....right?

[ooc: Come and prod the shock-collared assassin~!]

*au, kuroba kaito

Kaito!

[And one completely normal Aoko is now darting past the COMPLETELY NORMAL Kaito, chasing after yet another Kaito with all of the vigor of a girl who just had her skirt flipped.

... well.

It would be a completely normal Aoko, if said Aoko didn't just reach out into thin air and pull a mop out of nothing with a puff of smoke and a loud crack]

[the Kaito she's chasing does, by contrast, seem as normal as you can get, if you discount the fact that he doesn't seem at all surprised by her mop conjuring. He vaults over a couch in the lobby and spins to aim his card gun at her with a grin]

Oi, it's not my fault you wear boring panties!

[fires at the mop!]

There's a muted hiss, and 1412 shrinks back towards the wall, his eyes narrowed with hate. It's Kaito playing with an Aoko a little miss that he can't have, a little miss that is never his, can never be his because he killed her and she hates him and she loves that Kaito and he wants. to. hurt--

Your attention may be grabbed by 1412 collapsing, scrabbling desperately for the knife he's just dropped, before curling in a pain-filled ball on the floor.

As Aoko poises the mop to knock the cards back at Kaito, her attention is indeed grabbed by the collapsing 1412. She snaps her gaze away from her target and blinks in surprise a few times, before she drops her own weapon against the ground with a loud clatter.

"K-- Kaito?" The one from her world goes momentarily forgotten as she slides to her knees next to 1412, instinctively (be he the one she has known since childhood or not) reaching out for his shoulder. "What happened--"

And then her gaze is draw toward the dropped knife, and she freezes.

[at some point, this pale, unkempt, and clearly malnourished Kaito in technicolor orange creeps through the rooms, heading in a direction he's praying is the kitchen. having left Kit, the Kaito in pink, in the seemingly safe hands of Ran-kun, Jinx figured if he was going to be stuck in some Judge's headgame in a mansion of all places, he might as well take advantage of some of the comforts. such as the possibility of food. hopefully lots of it.

and while the Kaito with the scarf may appear entirely innocent, Jinx is giving him a wide breadth on the off-chance that he really is stuck in Mirror-land and there are happy happy Kaito-reflections everywhere. beyond that, cautiously taking in the sight of everything in the room and deciding where to go next.

... his stomach loudly complaining at the lack of attention to it is really distracting, however.]

Oho. Now 1412 knows where he is. It's a Kaito, another-- but not him, you see, because he's not a Kaito-- but it's a Kaito. And 1412 recognises this place now.

His mouth splits in a wide grin you might expect to see more on Kid, the cap shadowing his face.

"Kaito~" he lilts, drifting towards the boy in orange.

The Vulpecula freezes a bit at the approach of the other Kaito, eyes quickly darting toward the nearest exits for a quick moment before settling on the... other him? Reflection? He still isn't sure which Judge is running this thing but Mirror is definitely a contender.

Mindful of his image, he tries to appear relax even as he continues to tense the close the other him gets. "That's one of my names, don't wear it out," he snarks in a near-steady tone.

"Hasn't seen you before, doesn't think. New fashion, perhaps, hm?" The grin is wider now, mocking.

--glad to see the stupid-kaito afraid, scared, backing off... glad and happy to see him scared but not going to think about hurting him, just scaring him, oh yes, scare him a lot--

"Perhaps the Kaito thinks he is an orange?"

[He's pretty sure that this has nothing to do with the Vongola Family or any of the accompanying weirdness that fell out of that association. He's also pretty sure he should still be on his guard- after all, this is an incredibly unfamiliar situation. And with as much danger as his life seems to be turning toward, well, wariness is always a good thing.

So seeing their group's secondary Mist-user and resident complete pacifist Cloud-user acting strangely sets off all kinds of alarms. That's... not how Kuroba dresses. Not at all.

Especially not that scarf.] Hey, oniichan! It's not that cold, you don't need that scarf, right? [Says the little boy in a tiny formal suit with a big bug-off ring on one hand...]

1412 smiles softly at the boy. It's his dearest rival. There's a sense of calm present with his dearest rival being here, a tranquility and a certainty that pervades his mind and body. He could die here, in this simple corridor in this strange house. Could die at his hand, with the face of the boy who matched him in every way matching his own face and killing him with a hand that could have been his own. And that would be fine by him.

Except... the tiny little brat wasn't the same as the mirror to his self. SO he couldn't kill him. Not yet.

"Chibi-kun," is the soft greeting, after an uncomfortably long moment of staring.

It's weird, being called that. His disguise as Conan, as a regular child, was pretty much moot with the people he associated with anymore. It was silly, especially when there were Arcobaleno running around, even older than him but seemingly cursed with the size of an infant. Comments on his size were more likely to run towards teasing him about being the only Arcobaleno without a pacifier, not nicknames that made light of his shortness, even from their resident cloud-user.

"Kuroba." Conan met the stare with a level look, taking off his glasses and hooking them through the collar of his shirt. "Except you're not the Kuroba I know." The Kuroba he knew wouldn't be so quiet, wouldn't have stared. "Do you know where this is?"

"Not Kuroba, no," is the pleasant reply. "Tiny chibi-chan should know better than to call me that."

He crouches, propping his smiling face on one hand.

"This place is mad, you see, chibi-kun. Mad and twisted, and different." He reaches out and taps the Conan on the nose.

"My chibi-chan would know, but he isn't you, is he? Not with rings and things on fingers."

[It's the kind of thing Eight can only attribute to having been around and seen as many alternate versions of himself as he has- he knows 1412, even when 1412 isn't in uniform. After all, once you get to know so many people who look exactly the same to everyone else, it becomes a strong case of knowing how to tell twins apart.

To Eight, 1412 is about as unsubtly different from any other Kaito in the manner as, well, he is. It certainly doesn't help that this is clearly a case of the immortal being transported at exactly the wrong time. His hands are wreathed in flames, blue eyes narrowed, expression far more vicious than many other versions of Kaito could achieve without faking it. Seeing 1412 doesn't exactly negate the clearly agitated state Eight is in, but it does change it. His expression shifts to wary suspicion, the fire covering his hands fading. No need to be so obvious with that trick.]

One-four-one-two.

There's a startled twitch and a jerk; people don't recognise him this easily, not when he's hiding, not even Hakuba-kun is that good (he is, he will be, 1412 remembers but doesn't, because he never remembers anything important). Eight has managed to startle him for the first time in a long while.

"...Nine."

His tone is hushed, uncertain, his hand automatically grasping for the knife at his waist. He's indecisive. He should hurt him for hurting him but-- 1412 shudders, forcing his mind away from the thought of causing Eight pain. (He can be taught, it seems.)

"Eight, actually. If I can do you the favor of getting your name of choice right, you can return that favor." Eight noticed those twitches; it's sort of his job, especially since he started taking up teaching people how to defend themselves. One of his eyebrows went up in a silent challenge at that gesture, even as he leaned against the wall nearest to him, practically a picture of laziness.

"You think I'm going to attack you unprovoked? Tut-tut, I'd be a bit more the monster my students paint me if I did." His voice was light, but chastising all the same. After all, it wouldn't do for him to gain the image of the heartless tyrant. He could be that if he so chose, if he so needed... but now was hardly the time for that. If 1412 didn't make the first move, Eight was willing to stay still, to wait for something to react to.

1412 was still twitchy; his body language shrinking away from Eight. Even at his best, he'd still been beaten by him; now, even though he ached for revenge, he knew, knew, knew that he'd never beat him when he couldn't hurt or maim or kill anything.

Oh this was just hysterical. 1412 giggled brokenly, holding the knife in his hand wit white-knuckled fingers, taking a step backwards. His other hand clutched convulsively at the scarf around his neck, shaking his head, still laughing.

"Nine and Nine but Eight Nine, so no, I can't. Numbers, all numbers."

Wrong? No.

Nothing wrong at all, tiny little chibi-kun.

[His head tilts to one side in a birdlike parody of emotion and he grins, slowly, his smile a sharp-edged scimitar under the shadows of his hat.]
