Semi-hiatus and Anything Goes Meme

All in one post:

Semi to full hiatus for vacation from the 5th to 16th of December. I apologise in advance for flakiness or a complete absence as the internet situation might be iffy. This affects Cindy, Tiffany Aching and Guy of Gisborne--who may be tagging in at 1 comment a day from a different time zone. You can contact me by PMing the ( Read more... )

Cindy and Brianna are having even more fallout, so we'll see how that goes. Cindy is dead embarrassed about the last Camp effect though, so there's still that.

Tiffany . . . No plans, really--though she might age up one day.

Guy has barely even scraped the surfaces of his issues. Which will be easier to do once I get home.

Sadly, I am the most boring--I really don't have much of anything planned for Thor & Rico, and the only thing on Roy's menu is that I want to do a cabin-seeking post so he can find a permanent place to stay. (He'd been sleeping in the Young Justice treehouse with Robin and Kid Flash, but he was sort of... cramping their style, as it were.)

Any media recommendations? A show or movie you think I should watch, a book I should read? Just off the top of your head.

I have no idea what sort of media you like . . . Though I will recommend stuff like Criminal Minds, Hawaii Five-Oh and British shows like Q.I. for tv shows. Comics . . . I'd say Strangers in Paradise.

Rec me a comic book series?

Well, the obvious choice--since it can never be recommended highly or often enough--would be Neil Gaiman's complete run on Sandman from the late 80s-early 90s. But everyone says that. And the self-serving choice would be Thor: The Mighty Avenger, which I still consider to be hands-down the best comic of the year 2010.

But neither of those books are still coming out, so in terms of an on-going series? Definitely Atomic Robo, a book that manages to be consistently funny, thought-provoking, action packed, and above all funny. Yes, I listed funny twice, but that is right and proper for this book. Five 5-to-6 issue volumes have been released so far, and we're in the middle of Volume Six right now, but you can get a look at some Atomic Robo short stories right over here.

... and I'm running out of good question ideas, so here's a random silly one that I promise to never use against her, honest--is Cindy ticklish?

I love Sandman--it's practically a staple.

No, not really--someone who used to sleep with the mice and have them in her pockets wouldn't be very ticklish according to head canon.

Thor's favorite foods after pancakes?

... darn. I mean... never mind~

I think probably roast boar, both because it's a good hearty Viking-esque meal, and also there's considerable challenge in going out and hunting them. But since Thor's gotten to Camp, I also like to think he's developed a fondness for giant Dagwood sandwiches like the one in this icon.

If your characters had to go somewhere else than their homeworlds after leaving Camp, where would they choose?

Cindy would go back to the Homelands if Earth or Terra Mundy was out of the question. She's already been away from her home world for centuries.

Tiffany would die trying to find her way back home. While staying on Earth and being a hippy witch.

Guy is not sure if dead dudes get another chance at life, but he would probably relocate to some medieval type world where he would not feel so out of place and where he'd actually have viable skills.

Thor is already planning on going on an interdimensional road trip when he gets out of Camp, to visit with all the friends he made here--because hey, when you have a magic hammer that lets you open portals across time and space, why not use it to travel? But if he couldn't end up back in Asgard, he'd either relocate to the mainstream, Earth-616 of the Marvel Universe... or end up staying in Ivalice from FFXII or the world of Devil May Cry.

Ricochet is also already planning on going somewhere else (although he means it to only be temporarily before he would get Thor to take him home)--the DC Universe, of course! But if Earth-616 is closed, he'd stay in the DCU--as long as it's pre-DCnU.

Roy doesn't really know too many other worlds yet, but--big surprise--he'd either go back to the mainstream DCU proper instead of the Young Justice dimension... Or jump ship to the Marvelverse.

Answering this reminded me of a question, actually--do your characters get along with each other? (Or would they, if they haven't yet met in Camp?)

I like to send my characters off on adventures together when I go on an extended hiatus, so Thor and Ricochet have known each other for over 5 years now. They're not quite friends, per se--Ricochet is too overawed by what he knows Thor will go on to do as a founding Avenger, and Thor considers Rico too flippant (and occasionally whiny) for them to be buds, but they respect and will mafia for each other when the need arises. The best way to describe their relationship is "allies who demonstrate professional courtesy for one another ( ... )

Nope. Tiffany has a boyfriend at home that she is not giving up anytime soon, Cindy is married to her job forever and Guy has no happy boners.

Do your characters have crushes despite being mostly taken? And the new one too.

Thor enjoys flirting with Cindy (obviously), Raine, and Bo, but it's all meant innocently enough.

Rico is a tad more conflicted--canon has shown he's a skirt-chaser, and even though he genuinely loves his vampire!girlfriend, it's difficult being separated from her for 360 days out of the year. He is sort of crushing on Oracle/Barbara Gordon because her snarkiness reminds him of Asta, and while he's good friends with Supergirl, he wouldn't mind adding "with benefits" to that. Mostly he's trying really hard not to be a bad boyfriend while being surrounded by incredibly attractive women much of the time.

Roy hasn't really had time to develop a crush so far, but of the people he's met so far... maybe Power Girl? It's hard not to crush on her, really.

Do you have a favorite Camp moment?

There are so many . . . Cindy turning into a wolf will never not be funny. Or alternative universe week--that was fun too.

Stealing from Machika--Frog of Thunder aside, what animals would your characters turn into if icons were not an issue?

... it's really hard to imagine Thor as something other than a frog, now. Um, I guess I'll go with a grizzly bear?

I've always thought Ricochet would make an excellent raccoon.

Already two people have compared Roy to an angry tiny baby animal, either a puppy or a kitten. I'd go with kitten, myself--an orange tabby.

Cindy is a wolf in Camp. Canon as her turning into a mouse after buying a magic spell--good subversion there.

Tiffany is either a horse or a hare. She might not be too bothered by it after the first five minutes, so she doesn't get transformed.

Guy is a dog--one of those large wolf-hounds.

Your favorite moment in RP or in Camp?

It's hard to narrow it down after over five years--the big monster bossfights around Camp's 5 year Anniversary spring to mind, or Thor's first attempt at an anonymous post where he couldn't figure out why people knew it was him right away. But probably my favorite came not too long after I joined, and... I forget the specifics of it, but we somehow crashed the campfuckudie journal account and LJ closed it down--so we kept RPing under the conceit that everything except Camp's buildings had been swallowed by... the Void. It was just something we threw together to be able to keep playing, with people making mingleposts in character journals for everyone to play in until LJ sorted things out, but the Void event was a whole lot of fun. I was playing Ico in Camp at the time, and had him go Void-spelunking with a giant chain of paperclips so he didn't get lost--it was some of the most fun I've had RPing ( ... )
