Better living through chemistry.

I have for a long time vigorously resisted that sentiment. I staunchly believe that at least partially due to not using medicaments too much and too often, I respond pretty well and pretty strongly to the absolutely necessary shortish chemical interventions.

You may wish to try buspirone. It is an anxiolytic (relieving anxiety) but doesn't have any of the memory effects (which may be related to the creativity & flattening of emotional experience) of benzodiazepines because it works on a different mechanism. It also works quite a bit slower, a la SSRIs rather than benzos.

Thanks; I'll mention that to my psych.

I did also read the entry; well written. Having a chronic condition is something one just has to get used to, they say. But I know a pastor of my church who says that even after 60 years taking medicaments regularly, it still is a bother.

We'll cope.
