that is funny. what we normally do is set a limit, i.e $50 and provide a list of different things we might want. The person has to spend as to close to $50 as possible. Then we sometimes do a $5-10 gag gift which adds the surprise element.

gag gifts are a lot of fun, but not really practical. the reason we do this is because we can now speand our money on something good for 1 person instead of half ass things on 5 people. i agree with price limits as well, but in our case, we don't do it because we just don't care! LOL

I meant you do a $50 gift for each person then a small funny gift on top of that. Yeah most of the time we go over the limits anyways.

I hate Secret Santa cause a guy never really knows what to get another guy and a girl really has no idea too... either that or my friends don't really know me too well.

the reason we like doing secret santa is, this way we can concentrate and get 1 person something nice instead of 5 people something not as nice just cuz...

there's always gift reciepts and returns! LOL

Amen to that, on a similar note, have you ever gotten a gift from a sibling/relative that YOU didn't really care for but THEY were interested in and hoped to someday borrow. My brother is pretty much known for that when buying me stuff.

hahaha... um, i guess i'm that person in our family then! LOL

my and i are the same size so i get her things that i could possibly wear/utilize and my brother loves design as much as i do so i get him things that could possibly filter down to me at one point...hehe!!

but don't you have to love what you get people!?!?! haha
