Cold! I'm always reluctant to do much after dark in subfreezing temps for fear of unseen ice, but I'm always impressed to hear the tales of other people who are more confident than I.

you're smart like that! we did actually see some ice in the middle of the trail and did have headlamps/lights, but still.

I've had zero luck with headlamps actually illuminating ice and such. Mostly they just suddenly point at the sky as I go all akimbo after I've hit it.
(I suspect I'm significantly more clumsy than you.)
