I like the pie.

And the fact that today all my ancestors were in the process of getting brutally murdered by the white man.

Bastards.

the truest american holiday? more american then independance day, july 4, when the declaration of independence was signed (even though the last signature was on august 1st)?

yes, i would have to agree with justin, thanksgiving is more american than the 4th of July because to americans now, independence day is merely food (cookouts) and fireworks, whereas thanksgiving completely revolves around a feast, it doesnt have to compete with things that explode. we americans love to eat

The signing didn't even occur on july 4th. that's what makes in so off. It wasn't authenticated until august. the irony, it was authenticated using a procedure borrowed from monarchy. (i.e. calligraphy and signing)

as I recall july 4th was actually when the printed version of the declaration was first distributed.

plus, the declaration doesn't explain american characteristics beyond that we seperate ourselves from England. it doesn't depict anything else about us.
