My decision is to sit here and still tough it out some more, since none of these poor decisions directly affect how I use LJ...yet. However, I would like to set something up where I can keep a backup copy of my LJ just in case I need to jet at a moment's notice.

It archives *the entire journal* - comments, which icon you're using for that post, etc. It *appears* (as best I can figure) to save it all as XML - which can then be imported into a number of other software packages.
LJ's own archive tool only allows one month at a time, and doesn't keep the comments.

I have a major problem with censorship, whether I agree with the topic or not. Frankly, I find it's better to have it all in the open where we can find people we'd rather not associate with than to hide them away as if they don't exist, you know?

I must admit I like the clean look of the blogspot blogs though. Unlike you, I have no plans to be running my own serve anytime soon.

And that's why I'm not deleting my account - I can read LJ posts via RSS feed aggregator without any issue, so it basically gets me just about the same results while maintaining control over my own data.
