Health update -- good news
We think the problems with my dry eyes and dry mouth were an intersection of 2 things:
1) an autoimmune flare due to my 2nd Covid shot (this was the lesser contributing factor)
2) a very high thyroid level. I was right on the border line of too much thyroid, and one of the symptoms of prolonged hyperthyroidism is dry eyes and dry mouth.

This is not "vaguebooking" but is part of another conversation I'm having on another forum.
Sharing genes with a person does not obligate you to bond them out of jail. FULL STOP.
Especially if you have to put up your car/house/land/other personal property as collateral to the bail bond business.

The "good" of Slavery
Just putting this out here again.
I once sat down and read a county's worth of slave narratives from Georgia.
The fact that some slave owners were nicer than others & treated their slaves with some bit of decency is NOT a "good" of slavery, nor were there good masters. Less awful, yes, good, no. -
A Zemo Thing
As I said over on twitter, if you really wanted to fuck with (MCU) Zemo, you'd find a way to give him a small but helpful superpower, one that helps, but not so much anybody's going to feel obliged to him for the rest of their lives. Something like no person he meets gets a papercut, or no stapler within 50 feet of him ever jams ...

So, I was dropping off the groceries at my friend/mentor, C, when the topic got on to how work is just frying me, and I'm not sure if there is an end in sight, and C said that what is going on right now with the level of (over)work expected of me was almost as bad as what happened with M.

Professionalism as a tool for a positive and just workplace

I can't go into all the details but I recently had a person reveal to me that when he left an organization which we were both affiliated with to take a dream job, I was one of two people who thanked him for all of his hard work and wish him well in his new venture.

JFC people are willfully ignorant.
OMFG, so freaking sick and tired of explaining that "garden variety" defamation is not a First Amendment issue. It can become a 1A issue if there is a question about how the law is applied, or the constitutionality of the law itself (as has happened with some anti-SLAPP law), but ....
