I know that this isn't the point of this post at all - but funnily enough, that's 3 OTFers I know with dysgraphia...
As for the OTF question, I dunno, I usually skip around the issue, explaining that I've met people through there but that they're friends of friends - which isn't /entirely/ a lie, as I was introduced to the community through a few friends IRL. It's one of those things you gotta be comfortable with disclosing to people I guess, some people just say outright what it is, others skip around it, others I reckon would deny ever being to the place. S'just a personal thing I guess.

REALLY? It's very very rare!!!! and it'sWho is the other otfer with dsygraphia???? you should tell them that they arn't alone if you get to talking to them!
I have done that, my friends friend! thing tooo! I was explaining it to someone i trust my friends boyfriend(the only reason they are not married is medical insurance) and who i call my "brother in law" so that is why i was not trying to get around it and mince words.
I think feterinty is the best way to discribe it though, cus it's not just a "social networking site" and it's not just a chat room :/
It's a Star Wars/Trek chat (community), and every once in a while, the members in an area will meet up and have a 'union'. Usually it's London or Amsterdam. We found that there were a few of us in Vancouver, and decided to all go for coffee... we're not trekkies! really, he just likes x-files... it was never an online thing!
And I don't know if they understand. But whatever. It's a better story than most have ;)
*evil kaela says* do you mention that he is 7 years older then you and that you were a minor at the time? or that he was a leader of this place and that there is a fanatical sect among it? muhahahhahahahah! :) and the best part is that there really is very little that is sinsters about it, and we do our best to keep the younger memebers safe!
and there is nothing wrong with liking star trek! it use to be good till it turned to crap.... *caughs*
I mention ISA alot and the rank thing when i am actually being honest to go, see look they try to make it safe!
having actual friends i meet in like college or though girl scouts that live all over the place really does help people not ask questions, well and relatives all over the place too. They just kind of assume or dismiss now that i think about it :/ i get allot less funny looks when i say online now then i did before though.
