Actually, in a way I'm glad of how they made Kain and Shiki's route.
As you have said, it could be because of them already "linked" to other female characters in the anime / manga.

Either that or they didn't want it to be like other Dating Sims wherein even though you have not talked to a certain character they'd fall for you or something. xD;;

no, they ended up together. I got the bad ending for Yagari on the first go, then after a few tries, I got the good ending with Yagari where I decided to leave the school and go live a hunter life with him
