I'm sorry, George, but placing items into a dam on the "dry" side will simply cause the water to throw them. You have to put the stuff against the holes from the side the water is coming from, then the pressure of the water will force them against the holes and stop the water. You method, baring magic, should be completely ineffective.

Do you think I sent the toy companies the cost of, say 10 stolen small toy components a year that they would stop wrapping everything in hundreds of wires?!?!?

May I just say that were I constructing important structures connected to a railway with nigh constant derailments, I would make sure they were engineered to withstand the impact of 3 - 4 fully loaded freight cars? I'm just saying.
