Looking at this, I keep thinking how I'd be glibbering and meeping and chewing on the carpet tacks over this. Now, though, all it reminds me of is the hype over Watchmen. (I finally saw Watchmen a month ago, when the local Blockbuster was shutting down and selling its inventory at 90 percent off. I bought my copy for 67 cents, and I still feel like I overpaid. I waited two decades for this?)
There is definitely a Hal-ness to Reynolds. I didn't expect that. The costume? I will wait and see how everything they build around it works. A good story and good acting can make up for a so-so outfit, after all.
I will say, though, that I've always thought of the GL suit as being real. There was a story around 1980 where Dr. Polaris stole Hal's ring and left him for dead at the North Pole, and Hal survived in part because the uniform was made to withstand the rigors of space. And also because the uniform didn't vanish when Hal lost his ring. So there is a part of me that doesn't really go for the suit as a ring construct.
I can see Kyle mucking with his mask on a daily basis.
...and yet Kyle keeps going back to the space crab mask. Oh, Kyle.
Yes, I agree, the suit must be real - bug Hal isn't Supes, and he can make it appear with the ring, so I'm inclined to believe that the ring is involved somehow.
I think my issue is that I don't understand the costume. My internet snark remark is that it looks like someone skinned a Skrull, but toned down, I just don't understand the sinewy look. If I saw something like this in a comic book, I'd think it was overdrawn.

Sure was purdy to look at, though, wasn't it?
