That name meme

Mar 15, 2006 20:38

So this has been going around with my WL friends, and I mostly just watched because I am notoriously untaggable when it comes to these meme things. And then leatharegee actually tagged me! Zippy!

Also, I'm really bored right now, so I'm happy to have something to do. *g*

Ooooh, I haven't heard of that one, what's the naljwrimo thing? I'm guessing... National LJ Write More?

I think it's National LJ Writing Month. As opposed to Nanowrimo, where you have to write a novel. For naljwrimo you have to write a loooooong LJ entry. :D

Oooh, meme.

I'm not stealing this one, though. My username is simply my name, which, though I love my name, is about as unimaginative as you can get.

See, I never would have guessed that. I'm crap with languages but I'm thinking something from the Netherlands? It's a cool name.

...how do you pronounce that?

Your real name is Tijmetje? Really? Even I (it is I-Indy-your Dutch speaking friend *giggles*) haven't heard that one. My real name is Neleke (according to my birth citificate anyways) *shakes fist* and it's unpronouncable in English.

And Kali Marie, how is that pronounced, is it like "Callie"? *is randomnly curious* :)

Yeah, it's like Callie, although her name and mine are different; I've always thought of my name as like Kalla-mire, like that.

Also, Neleke is pretty! At least, the way it sounds in my head is pretty, but I'm probably getting it all wrong.

It's silly, like most username stories. When I first created my lj, it was actually going to be used for a Harry Potter RPG in which I was going to play one of the Hogwarts Founders, Salazar Slytherin. The thing is Godric Gryffindor (who would actually end up being Salazar's One True Love) called him 'Sally' to annoy him. Unfortunately, we never played a lot, most of the fics were written and distributed between the group, never posted, etc. but I kept the lj because I was to lazy to create a new one.

What would you change your name to, if you were changing it?
I don't think I would. Most people in several fandoms recognize me by this silly name, so...

What is your favorite username?
ugh. Probably forcryinoutloud or thebratqueen with mymindkills a close second.

See, I like how everyone has these unique reasons for picking their names. It's kind of important, really, because your username becomes your fandom identity, like who you are in this whole double life.

...or maybe that's just me. *g*

My former name for email, etc., was a new-agey sounding item that was chosen years ago in haste because I had to set up a new email account very quickly. This one, which I came up with for LJ, is a combination of my grandmothers' middle names, with the vowels switched around.

What would you change your name to, if you were changing it?
Hmmmmm...I'd use another person-type name, like joesmith or something. All the creative-type names I think of are dorky. However, I'm not changing it, not right now anyway.

What is your favorite username?
I like ainm, because it's short, punny (means "name" in Celtic), has nothing to do with any fandom or her regular life (other than heritage, mebbe) and involves no numbers, as in "desiree4251." The numbers bother me for some reason.

So now you know. *g*

Ooooh, cool. I like that, when people have these interesting backstories to their names. I also like your choice of favorite (clever, that, picking a name that literally means "name" in another language) and very much yes on the numbers thing. Especially not good is a date in the name, like Sara2004 or something, because of course that becomes obsolete after a while.

Actually, I shouldn't say that because thegrrrl2002 is one of my favorite people, but still. Not so much a fan of the date name.
