Home again, home again, jiggedy jog

We have survived our holiday road trip! (Barely.) The girls did get to see snow, although not quite in the way that I had hoped, and there was a lot of family togetherness. And when I say a lot, I mean the kind of family togetherness that can only be had when people are crammed into a vehicle for hours on end. The kind of togetherness, in other ( Read more... )

Thanks! I'm very glad to be home. Now I get to settle in and watch all those things my DVR saved for me. *glee*

I know, and having been to both the one in NM and the one in Nevada, I have to say there is quite the striking difference. Also, you may indeed have the icon. ^_^ I got it from girl_clone.

Should we be led to believe that the major motivational force drawing you to Denver was the opportunity to assist stranded motorists in their time of distress? Or perhaps it was your need to experience first hand the beauty and wonder of an ice storm. One must wonder what force has the power to pull a man and his family through such a perilous journey when ample opportunity for an alternative route was at hand. It couldn't have been his children's desire to play in the snow. There must have been some higher calling that you neglected to mention. Would you please share with us the glory you all must have experienced upon arriving at your destination?

Actually, I think the main reason was the Harley dealerships in Colorado which had not yet been visited, and the dealer pins we could get. Of course, being late on a Saturday and then a Sunday when we were there, most of them were closed. The snow was really very pretty, though, and there was a great deal of (possibly misplaced) confidence that it wouldn't slow us down. Plus, going south meant toll roads, which are apparently anathema to the guy who was driving.

Also, in one of those odd ironic touches, it snowed hard here today for a few hours. We got a light coating on the ground and the girls were thrilled, but then the temperature went back up and it all melted. Still, it was nice for a while.

something that i thought you might find interesting.....

one of clay aiken's dogs (durham) is a hemaphrodite! :)

did i ever tell you that i've met him (and his dogs) because we treat both of them at my hospital?

...dude, really?

I don't know if I'm more boggled by the hermaphrodite dog, or the actual meeting Clay thing. That's so cool, on both fronts! I'm more of a cat person, but any animal lover is fine with me.

A hermaphrodite though, that's unusual. Does that require some sort of corrective surgery?

no corrective surgery. who the heck really cares anyhow? the dog wouldn't be able to reproduce, so when he goes to have it neutered, they'll have to do abdominal surgery to take out ovaries. on the outside, if you look closely (which a normal human being wouldn't do!) it kinda has a penis emerging from a definitively non-penis spot!
