That must've been rough on your husband.

Kali is also some Hindu goddess, I think. She's angry and has a few more arms than people.

My username is my name. I'll be changing it soonish, though.

My only relative on LJ is my sister, but she never used her account.

It was hard for him, yes, but Kirsten had a number of medical conditions that made her life quality rather low; in some ways he looked on it as a release for her.

Yeah, Kali the goddess is not nice, I think she's also known as Kali the Destroyer. If you'd met my three year old, it would seem strangely apt. *g* And my dad never uses his LJ, he only has it to read mine from time to time. Still, I think it's cool that he's alright with the slash and everything.

I am glad that you think I am cool and that I am ok with whatever you choose to write or do, but don't you miss the authoritarian Dad who did his best to provide you with a moral compass? I know I miss him sometimes. Not that I have any intentions of returning to that role, but there was a certain comfort in knowing where the line was drawn on every issue even if it was somewhat rigid and confining.

I think your coolness comes from being open minded, but not so open that everything falls out. *g* Those rigid moral compasses are overrated, anyway. Like, a little while ago a slash comm I belong to linked to a poll being run by one of those conservative family groups. The poll was a thinly veiled disguise of building support to boycott companies that provided healthcare coverage to the same sex partners of employees. The website called it the "homosexual agenda" and claimed it would be special treatment for gay people, although really all they want is the same treatment married straight people get. If that's the moral compass, I'd rather go without.

Also, I think it's kind of telling that I turned out totally the opposite of how I was raised--you and mom were always so conservative, republican, breeder homophobic types, as I remember it. Not in a bad way, more in an uninformed acting by rote doctrine way. I think. I could be skewing what I remember a bit in some leftover teenage rebellion thing. ^_^
