I work for an awesome company. I mean, really, this is a rare thing. Recently a coworker from another office, halfway across the country, who most of us have never met, had an accident. He's in serious condition, in the hospital, outcome uncertain. The company sold off "casual day" stickers for donations, buying the right to wear casual clothes

True; too bad people don't always use that power for good. Still it makes me feel happy about where I work, and that's certainly rare enough.

This could be serious. A company that recognizes and rewards it's employees for intelligence and productivity, offers advancement for the willing and able, and also shows compassion for employees going through a tough time? Consider the ramifications if this type of behavior caught on. Morale and productivity could actually improve and cause American companies to be competitive in the world market! What is the world coming to?
