thankful to be chinese

Yesterday, I flew into SFO from Shanghai, happy to be home. This morning I woke up feeling strangely bittersweet. China was amazing. It’s beautiful. After my short stay in China, I’ve never felt so grateful to be Chinese and so proud of my heritage. Proud isn’t the right word… it’s more like thankful. I experienced the source of where my blood ( Read more... )

I'm chinese too. I visited Hong Kong couple years ago. It was a great experience. I'm too Americanized. I remember speaking English almost the whole time in Hong Kong, people stared. I would love to visit China one day to learn more about the chinese culture and history.

one day, i will find you wherever you are and invite you to join me on another journey back to mainland.

you're such a beautiful person; i see it more and more in each entry.

i, too, am very thankful to be chinese. although i deeply appreciate the american way of life, i know that if i were to ever go back "home"...i would fit in perfectly and happily. after all, i was born there =)

"simple people with simple lives"...you must have met my parents at one point or another, haha.

welcome home kel.

hey there,

thanx for reminding me about the "tai-chi" and sword exercises.
I remember that very well...I got up early to go work out in the park and u can see a vast see of senior citizens working out or playing chinese chess...as I was working out trying to be buff, everyone was staring at me...didnt feel awkward, but they were all looking. (too americanized?)

neway, I enjoyed it..sitting among them like I was an old man...in a sense like heaven with the ppl u respect and love.

The Silk Road Tour lulucan November 17 2004, 20:59:22 UTC
It's a very eye opening, humbling experience to see behind the walls of “the rising dragon”, and see beyond what the Chinese government portrays to tourists with the Great Wall of China, Terracata Soldiers, and Hong Kong.

I took a tour through the silk road route back in '01, and I left China realizing how lucky I am to be born in America with so much opportunity. Made me very thankful for my awesome parents who sacrificed their childhood for mine. Thanks for reminding me today =)

Oh hey the photos from my trip are at http://photobucket.com/albums/v460/eLillian/SilkRoadTour2001/.

Glad you had an awesome experience Kelly =D

I went on a silk road tour in 1995. I had a great time; at the end of the tour, I was able to visit some relatives on my mother's side and even saw some pics of my greatgrandparents. I'm sure things have changed some for the better some for the worse since then.

So far, all of my trips to East Asia have been great - Taiwan, Mainland China, Hong Kong, South Korea, and last year, Japan. I'm trying to get over to Singapore next.
