The Legendary List

I've mentioned many a time that I've been compiling a massive List of all the many many many Towering Classics of the video game genre that I never played and very much need and want to. There has been much clamor of late to see the List, such that people may peruse it, be aghast that their favorite game isn't on it, and press me to include it, ( Read more... )

For running old PC games, DOSBox is pretty amazing.

I'd replace Dragon Age Origins with Skyrim, what with them being rather similar except for that Skyrim is better in all possible ways.

Skyrim does seem to be pretty universally acclaimed. I should probably add it. I'll admit I'm a little intimidated by it, though, since people keep using words like 'vast' and 'myriad' to describe it. And also it's the fifth installment of a series that I've never played, which feels like an odd starting place...

Oh, don't worry about it being the 5th. No knowledge of previous games is really important - all you'll miss is a few lore references.

It really does seem like the kind of game you'd like, though. Imagine a game where when you find a bookcase you can actually READ ALL THE BOOKS ON IT. And they're all real, in-character books, filled with lore and fiction, though admittedly they tend to only be around a dozen pages long. But there are LOTS of them.
