This! Okay, I sell fancy fancy yoga pants, but MANNERS is always the same principle. You may think you're being "cute" by asking me to repeat the price three times, but you're not. You're being an ass. "You want that much? For this? Psssh." is not an appropriate response in public.

I like my job. I like working here. AND I MOTHERFUCKING LOVE THOSE PANTS.

I think my usual answer (Crestfallen expression - "Oh. I'm afraid I'm going to have to think about that!" - Placing the book down regretfully while offering to reshelve, but not insisting if this makes the proprietor nervous) is a bit of 1 with a dash of 3, hinting slightly at 4 if the bookseller is looking for it, but never saying it aloud, because as you say Manners! Usually the bookseller is mollified by the stack of 20 others that I am buying

Doctor's wives get to hear the rant about the patient who has long-winded uninterruptable answers to anything but the question, and staff who book one hour problems (e.g. complete physicals) in 15 minute slots.

Perhaps Bear is the Supreme, Superb, Exalted and Delightful, One and Only Magic Offspring, and will never do this to you - and I hope he is - but stay-at-home Moms rant about children who mortify them with their behavior.

I had one who hated being confined by a shopping cart enough that she decided to start yelling "Mommmmm! I need to go POTTY! I need to POOP! I need to! BADLY ( ... )
