Christmas in Ely

Dec 27, 2015 21:57

This year, in a complete break with tradition, or perhaps the start of a new one, I spent Christmas in Ely, seeing fengirl88, gwendraith and, on a brief trip to Cambridge, altariel and family.

Looks wonderful! Love those earrings, and the dancers :)

Yes, the dancers were all the more enjoyable because we had no idea they would be there - we just spotted a small crowd by the river and went over to see what they were watching!

Excellent pictures.

It sounds as though you have a very good time. It probably shows how shallow I am that when you mentioned the Lewis chess set the first thing I thought of was Noggin the Nog.

Not at all; I often think of Postgate and Firmin talking about how the chess pieces inspired them.

And happy the last days of Old Year to you!:-)
Oh my, the cathedral! What a wonderful, really magnificent piece of architecture! So another one I wish I could visit...
Beautiful pictures! And the tree there, splendid and shining!
Ely must have its medieval character still intact, mustn´t it?

Lovely Christmas time you had. I like the earrings!
Wow, Morris dancers! I like this English tradition very much!
Haha Abby reacted exactly like Ollie when I return after some absence. Lovely girl, she was happy to have you back!
Nice post, thank you!:-)

Ely also has a nice market, with lots of local products - not like the professional Christmas markets that turn up in the cities in the winter.
