On the weekend of July 4th, do I:  A) go to Dublin or B) go to the American embassy in Berlin for a 4th of July party?

Or, do I:  go to Dublin the next weekend, and miss a concert that I would love to go to (and actually know the music for)?

I got my haircut today!  All in German!  I'm pretty proud of myself.

It's basically what I got last time, which is exciting, because it means that I actually managed to communicate what I wanted to the hairstylist, even though it was all in German.  I rock.

Today, I went to a zombie march from Alexanderplatz to Brandenburger Tor.

Every now and then, I just really want to go home.  Or at least be on the same continent as my family.  Like yesterday.  Albert graduated high school, and I couldn't be there to watch him walk and listen to Pomp and Circumstance for the millionth time.  He had to go to my graduation, and I feel horrible missing his, even though I'm sure he'd play ( Read more... )

Today we went to Bad Saarow, a lake kind of on the outskirts of Berlin, about an hour's train ride.  It was amazing.  We went swimming, played frisbee in the water, had an awesome picnic lunch, played more water frisbee, rented some boats and canoed/kayaked/paddleboated several kilometers.  I canoed.  And my hand cramped about three-quarters of the ( Read more... )
