Well, that's that.

I went to add a new RSS feed to my LJ account today (since aside from a sparse handful of people, I use LJ as an RSS aggregator), and discovered that unpaid accounts can't add new RSS feeds by URL. Reasonable, no doubt, but means that my last excuse for using LJ is gone. I don't post, I don't read people, I'm pretty much just here for the RSS ( Read more... )

It's true, you aren't posting very often.

What is RSS? What is Google Reader?

RSS is Really Simple Syndication, it's like a newsfeed, sort of... Things like news sites and web comics have a special URL that you can point a program or web application at, and then you can read all of your news and comics and stuff in that one program instead of having to bookmark a gazillion pages and load them every day. Google Reader is one such web app, it's free from google.

I post authory news here, but I also post SOME of it to my author site (firstnamelastname.com), and also to an e-list, so if you want to keep up with those things, you can subscribe to the e-list through the site. We talk in YIM, too, but I forget to talk about those things sometimes, so you might want to consider it.

I like talking with you via YIM. :) And I think I'm already on a mailing list, or at least I used to be. Every so often I get an email about the writing stuff. :)

You might be getting them. I forget who is subscribed and who isn't. :)

And yes, YIM is good.

no worries, the only stuff I'm not posting publicly is stuff like address updates. Since we just bought a house out here in Reston, if you've gotten that address it's unlikely to change for several years.

If you've got a feed setup from http://honeymooniniraq.com (really honeymooniniraq.blogger.com) I'll probably start updating that again shortly as I'm likely to return to having a first person perspective on what's going on there. Otherwise I'll post a pointer to the new blog once I get the time to put it together.

News like this makes me glad that I bought that lifetime membership to LJ back when you first introduced me to here, but absent that I can understand why you've got no desire to stay on this site.

It'd be different if I actually had the urge to blog, or for that matter, to connect with more people. Right now I'm really focused on Doing, getting good marks on my CS GRE, getting into grad school, getting my undergrad research done... I've let my social life collapse to something pretty minimal in order to focus more on those things. I could write about those things, but it would take up time, and then random people would just want to talk to me about them, heaven forbid. :)

Once I start into grad school, I may have more things I want to say. :) We'll see.

I blog about 90% public on vox (which has a feed link somewheres). At some point, I'll write exegesis on various topics of the dharma, but of late it's been a lot of cameraphone pics and occasional reflections. There'll be more buddhist stuff there when I write more about my term papers.

Yay, grad school :)

Grad school is a good thing, I'm thinking. :) Time to work at the things that you're passionate about...

The hair is cute, I haven't seen it in a bit.
