What the hell, it's just fan fiction!

Okay so I'm reading this Twilight fic Appassionata written by lisa89, and sometimes I skim the reviews and I come across this review that just bothered me, in fact it pissed me off. Here is what the reviewer stated:

Here is my PSA lol- No matter how mad she was... Bella had no right to slap Edward.

Women seem to think they have the right to use ( Read more... )

I love that fic too, and I totally agree, Edward deserved to be slapped. That's what I'm saying, when a women loses her cool and a guy get's slapped, honestly in 99% of the cases the guy had it coming. Is it a double standard yeah. But look at all the double standards women have to deal with everyday.

Perfect example: Bella is considered a whore, while there's nothing wrong with Edward who had a girlfriend at the time as he flirts with Bella. But that's considered ok. But people fly off the handle when Bella slaps poor old Edward. LOL!

I'm not quite sure why this review bothered you. But I can understand why the person who left the review was bothered by the fic.

What one writes in fanfiction is both a depiction of their interpretation of the story, and also a look inside the writer. Whether or not abuse is wrong isn't the question, it's why members of the Twilight fandom (the reviewer implies this isn't confined to a singular writer) find it acceptable to HAVE abuse because, a woman hitting a man isn't the same, therefore, it's ok to use the action.

But then, I'm disturbed by a lot of the new fanfiction trends from current fandoms.

I don't know what fanfic this person has been reading, but I have read plenty of non violent Twilight stories. And I don't see the trend she is talking about. She made a generalization about all twilight fic and the fans that read them. That's what bothered me and I didn't find anything offensive in the actual story referenced to. It's a really good story and it was sad that this person took it so negatively.

I kinda agree with you in the sense that i doubt any woman can hit a man hard enough! We are always less strong than them!!
