Juudai & open! time-paradoxes welcomesternitfortemApril 7 2011, 01:35:56 UTC
[ Juudai is over at the goldfish scooping stall. He is absolutely determined to catch this one big one in there, which has evaded his every attempt and cost him at least two poi. But he will catch you, Mr. Fish. ]
[You see this? This is Johan, toting his own goldfish baggie with a calico-colored fish floating around inside. He is totally not in festival-appropriate garb, though, since he... doesn't even own a yukata to begin with. Just his everyday clothes.
So he strolls up to Juudai and peers over his shoulder with a silly grin, but doesn't say anything so as not to break his concentration. Not that his mere presence is any less distracting to begin with...]
[ ...Okay, Johan, Juudai totally knows it's you. But he's going to ignore you for as long as it take him to catch Mr. Fish here, okay?
Closer... closer... he's got Mr. Fish cornered... Johan, you had better not be making a face or Juudai will start laughing at the thought of it and all will be RUINED! oh shoot he thought of it... not laughing... he will have you, Mr. Fish!... ]
[Johan, in fact, has this amazingly smug expression on his face that says, "I know you're trying to concentrate, but I like distracting you because it's funny". His eyebrow is quirked very slightly, and his lips are turned up in a smile, creating a look that is incredibly difficult not to acknowledge SOMEHOW.
[Suddenly, Johan starts to snicker a little, ducking his head as though trying VALIANTLY to restrain himself, but to no avail. And it eventually devolves into giggling and full-out laughter.
[ The tension is broken! And so is the paper film in Juudai's poi, as Mr. Fish kicks his way through and does a victory lap around the pail to rub it in. Juudai tries to scowl at Johan, but it's nigh impossible when he's laughing so hard. ]
This is harder that it looks, you know! [ Brandishing his now-useless stick in Johan's face for good measure. ]
[ BETRAYAL! Juudai, for a moment, is entirely dumbstruck as to what he should do with his face. He settles for a "fine, I didn't care all that much anyway" face. ]
Yeah, well... whatever.
[ Oh, and by the way, Johan, you're not wearing proper festival garb! Juudai's wearing a nice red yukata patterned with fall leaves that he found in his closet (clothes fairy? better check on that). Perfect opportunity to change the subject. ]
We've got to get you something better to wear anyway! Come on, the stalls are up the street. [ There was a nice blue-ish yukata in one of the stalls near the center square, that would be great... ]
--Oh, right, festival clothes. Only reason Johan hadn't sought one out himself was because he had no idea where to get one to begin with, so he figured it was just as well. He studies Juudai's robe thoughtfully.]
Those are... yukatas, right? Don't think I've ever gotten to wear one. I've never actually been to one of these types of festivals before, either!
[The gesture is reciprocated instantly. WALKING ARM IN ARM DOWN THE STREET, OH YEAAAAAH.]
Oh, sure they do! Just not the same as the ones in Japan, you know? And they don't have a whole lot of cherry blossoms there, either, so holding a festival like this would be hard to do, hehe.
[Fishy robe... SURE WHY NOT. Johan detaches himself from Juudai and examines the yukatas, feeling the material and inspecting the fastenings, or lack thereof. After a pause, he looks up and flashes Juudai an awkward grin.]
[ Juudai attempts to show Johan how to tie one in midair with hand gestures. ] Well, you have to put it on like this... and then you tie it like this... left over right, that's really important...
[ Cue mild side-eye from the merchant, but he's too busy waiting on other customers to bother with the two wacky outlanders just yet. ]

Yeah, deal with it.]

Steady... steady... come on Mr. Fish, Daddy's got a tiny little pond by the waterfalls with your name on it...
The tension is high! One sound could disrupt this! ]

You're too damn funny, Juudai.]

Is it really?

[ Juudai swings an arm around Johan's shoulders and leads him down the street. The subject has been successfully diverted from fish! ]
They don't have festivals in Norway? I mean, I know you don't wear Japanese-style clothes, but...

At least yukatas look pretty comfortable!

They're way comfortable! We have to get you in one. [ Oh look, it's that stall Juudai saw earlier, with the nice blue yukata patterned with carp. ]

...So, how do you put these on again?

Ahaha... I think I might have to have you help me with that, actually. All I got from that was the left-over-right part.
