Juudai & open! time-paradoxes welcomesternitfortemApril 7 2011, 01:35:56 UTC
[ Juudai is over at the goldfish scooping stall. He is absolutely determined to catch this one big one in there, which has evaded his every attempt and cost him at least two poi. But he will catch you, Mr. Fish. ]
[Here, she pauses mid-step to flash a supremely confident smirk at him. Her voice is light - the tone downright chipper - as she flips her hair over her shoulder, unmindful of the ay it brushes the ground.]
I'm the Bloody Black Rabbit, Alice! I can just beat it out of'em, no problem!
[...She really is quite serious. She has every intention of just taking the food from the vendor.]
Whoa - look - you can't beat people up and take their food! [ Sort of running after her - ! ] Look - Alice? - just slow down. I'll buy you some meat. Let's talk. I insist.
[ { Adopting all the stray rabbits in the neighborhood? Yubel snickers. }
[ Annnd here, have a passive look over her shoulder as she drops her hands down to her sides. She blinks at him a moment before spinning to continue on - though her hand does snap out to wrap around his wrist to drag him along.]
...you have that look like what the brat gets. Like you're about to start talking a lot, so wait until we have the food first, okay?
[ Wow, Juudai has no idea how this happened; a minute ago, he was trying to catch Mr. Fish, and now he is buying meat for this slightly unhinged young girl who likes to boss him around. An average day in the life of Yuki Juudai, honestly. ]
I wasn't going to talk a lot... [ he mutters as they make it to the stall. Juudai puts an order in for six sticks of beef and pork, and sighs internally. There won't be any more fishing today, not after this trip. ]
[Violet eyes are positively alight with anticipation as she watches him order. Her eyes stay quite happily locked on the mouth-watering goodness as she gives a little bounce on the balls of her feet.]
...But you were still going to talk at me, right? Like I said, I don't mind a mouthy manservant, so long as I get some meat!
[Violet eyes brighten considerably, the diamond shaped pupils focusing with an excited intensity as she takes all six of the sticks from him with an unbridled enthusiasm. She even gives a happy little hum and dances a quick little spin step, deftly slipping between people milling around them before jumping up in a happy little hop.
The entire first stick disappears into her mouth before her feet even touch the ground.
It takes her a moment to answer, in between one stick and the next.]
Just call me Alice! So… what’d you wanna know, Spiky-head?

[ Wow, a hundred and thirteen. Juudai immediately revises his initial impression of Alice - wherever the Abyss was, it didn't sound like a pleasant place to spend one hundred years.
He sits down across from Alice, crossing his legs under him. ]
I'm eighteen, so I'm not sure yet if that makes me your senpai or kouhai. [ He chuckles, mostly to himself.
So, Alice: one hundred thirteen years old, voracious appetite for meat, purple eyes... ] I'm curious: are you a human or a spirit? [ He puts his hands up - ] It doesn't matter to me either way.
[ The language question is ignored as Juudai sees that glimpse in her eyes for a second. If he hadn't just spent twenty minutes running around keeping her from eating Mr. Fish or beating up food vendors, he might not have noticed it, but even a momentary absence of that cocky expression is noticeable to him at this point.
Was she, for a moment, afraid of him? Maybe. Maybe she was afraid of what he'd say to her answer - all this talk of blood and Chains and Abysses, and that assertion that she might still be a little human. The kind of answer that someone might just get hurt or worse for.
No questions or threats? No suspicious looks or anything at all?
Did he not hear her properly... or was he as insane as the rest of them?
Alice didn't know and, quite frankly, she didn't really care - because he was smiling and not trying to take back the meat, so she simply laughs a rich laugh, free and clear, and offers him two of the sticks of meat after a second of juggling them.]
You're pretty damn weird, Spikyhead, but I like ya. Here.

Yeah, I figure we might as well get to know each other. [ The meat comes, and he hands her all six sticks. ] My name's Juudai, by the way.

So, how old are you, anyway?

[And there disappears half of the third stick as she dances off to a nearby tree, plops down with her legs stretched out before her.
She shrugs, pulls another piece off, and blinks up with a wide-eyed innocence at the other.]
You?

[Yes, yes she's completely serious. But then the rest of the his words register and the open, curious look fades to one of... uncertainty. Of doubt.
Of fear.
But only for the briefest moment before her confident smirk flashes back into place as she shrugs.]
I'm the Bloody Black Rabit, Alice! The strongest Chain in the Abyss! And I think... that I might be a little bit human. Maybe.
