I kind of hate AIM, but will log on occasionally if someone needs to talk about something and they aren't going to be on a MUSH or IRC, which seem to be more stable than AIM.

Texting is a pain in the butt, and I hate doing it unless there's a good reason, for instance being on the road and not having access to a computer. Not to mention it costs money.

I still IM, but in my case it may be more to do with the fact that I've avoided mobile phones all this time. It wasn't too long ago however, that I was reading about how IM became the new e-mail years back and since then texting has become the new IM. I say it has to do with the technology available to the age groups in question-- people our age only have so much time to spare.
