Back from niagara falls. It was spectacular as expected. The boat took us almost to the bottom of the falls. There the water droplets kicked up almost totally obscure vision. And its so wet you need a poncho. In the afternoon, we spent time at the town near the falls. Its las vegas esque with a casino, plenty of entertainment places like haunted ( Read more... )

The past 36 hours have been very fun. Friday night, they organised a soccer game. Which i gladly joined to release pent up physical cooped-up-ness. We played for about 2.5 hours. I played like shit.. haha the grass was wet, i had tennis shoes on so i was sliding and slipping about. MY back was also killing me again, and my fitness sucks. ( Read more... )

Yesterday was rather messed up. The morning was spent solving the quantum seeing in the dark. I still do not understand the solution. And hte solution is so inelegent. Anyway the result was supposedly published in 1999. So if any of you were pro enough to solve it, you might have been able to publish 7 years ago. hehe ( Read more... )

Yesterday was a comparatively normal day. The morning started off with a talk by the head of the institute of quantum computing of the university of waterloo, raymond laflamme. I must say yesterday was very fun. In the morning we did matrices, which was rather simple cos they only did the basic stuff. So i spent most of hte morning thinking about random things, trying to find the inverse of a matrix, (I couldnt rmb what the formula was, so went to use simultaneous equations to solve. Today was a rest day. Physics only starts on mondays, ending on fridays when the institute opens. We spent the morning at a nature reserve called Eloda. Its main feature is this deep gorge. There were a pretty large bunch of kayakers paddling on the river when we were there ( Read more... )
