When they come out with a "Netflix" (aka "a library") for the Kindle, that's when I'll get one.

A library? Confused Kar3n is confused. You can back up your Kindle titles on your computer pretty easily, plus you can use it to read other ebooks downloaded from other places.

I got mine as a gift and didn't think I'd use it very much, but it's actually a pretty nifty gadget.

I'm just saying that $9.99/book can get expensive. It'd be better if they had a subscription fee (say, $10 - $15/month) that you could pay, then download as many books as you'd like per month. Then, once you open the file, you have a month to read it before it deletes off your device. I read 4 - 6 books a month and rarely re-read old books, so a "Netflix-y"-type e-book subscription service would be more economical for me.

Ahh, I get it.

I usually rack up fines at the library since I chronically forget to return my books, so I'd rather pay the $9.99 or $6.99 or whatever up front and save everyone some aggravation. Some public domain ebooks are actually available for free or only a few bucks, which is pretty bitchin'. I was catching up on Sherlock Holmes stories for a while. :)

What Coleman said.. I get a headache after staring at a screen all day, but the Kindle (not being backlit) is easier on the eyeballs. It's also less distracting to read on the Kindle. I've got an attention span like a monkey on crack, which makes it hard to concentrate on reading a novel on my laptop when I could be checking Facebook or looking at what just popped up in the RSS feed, or listening to music, or doing any number of other things.
