Herbs and veggies

Does anyone have any interest in any garlic scapes or fresh garlic? I dug up a whole pile yesterday afternoon because it was in the way, and it's far more than we can use anytime soon and I don't have anywhere to put it. I have no idea how the bulbs taste when harvested this time of year. Along those lines, if anyone wants oregano plants, they' ( Read more... )

If by that you mean the garlic, you're welcome to grab some if you're near the house; it's out back in a bucket under the grape arbor.

Hmmm. Maybe I will. I don't know where you live though.

We were going to do without oregano, but if you've got extra, we've got squares in the garden that need filling omg.

I tried using garlic scapes (from the farmer's market) in stir fry last year, and wasn't wicked impressed. What are your thoughts on that?

I'll try to remember to pot some of the oregano up instead of ripping it all out then.

I've never really worked with the garlic scapes before. Some of the stuff I read online suggested trying them as a pesto with walnuts, I haven't done it yet though I was thinking of maybe trying it.

I forgot to check timeframe - would coming over this weekend to pick up oregano work for you?

Anything pesto-like sounds good to me, although I have never actually tried making non-basil-based pesto. The scapes we had last year were kindof hard/woody, and I thought frying them would help, but it didn't. (Now that I remember better, I think I put them over pasta with sun-dried tomatos; it was edible, but not amazing.) So young/fresh ones would probably work better.

This weekend is fine. I'll be around, and I should have time to pot some up by then.

awhyzip confirms that we are interested in an oregano plant, and possibly some garlic. Giving them directly to her is probably the easiest thing.
