When did banks start making people sign the back of checks made out for cash? Never happened when I first started banking way too many years ago?

Our office cleaners have a new game - it's hide my waste basket. I just love coming in and finding I have no waste basket after I try throwing away my used kleenex. I spent part of this long weekend browsing the latest fsshions in the shops - the part of the weekend where my arm didn't feel like it was going to fall off. I started at 9:30 this morning after taking a 60 minuted walk, and finished around 1:30. Home Depot said it take four hours and they weren't kidding My right hand is killing me. Last Saturday I went exploring and spent some time in downtown Spring Green. Lovely rural city of 1400 or so people that had a real downtown. It's come back with a lot of Galleries and craft stores.
