My meditation group is doing a beginners series using the book Meditation for Beginners by Jack Kornfield

He said Saint Francis said that meditation requires

A cup of understanding
A barrel of love
And an ocean of patience

I think this is probably true of most anything
though maybe the measurements vary a tinch from time to time

I watched The Secret Life of Bees last night. Now I need to go get the book. It has some amazing lines - and I like the underlying general feel.

Including tonight, 4 more classes for Managerial Econ to be finished.

Limbic work is interesting stuff
it's really amazing how things that used to be self preserving become counter productive
and how deeply it's all rooted

So, the whole class failed the Managerial Economics midterm
I had the 2nd highest grade, a whopping 65
and instead of just curving all the scores
now we have a take home exam for "bonus points"  and he'll take the better of the two grades
the new exam is twice as long and much more difficult than the previous one

Meditation at Maymont yesterday was very nice. One of the members plays a native american flute and shared music with the group. It was just lovely. Beautiful. Magical. I want to learn to play the flute now ( Read more... )

So, I followed through with a promise to myself and went to the park to do yoga before meditating. I chose a spot under a grove of  wisteria trees, which was nicely shaded. I forgot how the sweet smell draws bugs, so that made things interesting. Still, I was comfortable, felt protected and had a nice half hour work out / stretch / me-time before ( Read more... )
