Ugh, I share your feelings. I think all 4 should be declawed only in very special and rare circumstances, and the fact that the cat was outside shows that those circumstances certainly weren't met.

It seems rather odd that he would be in that condition, and yet not have a collar and tag.

He's gorgeous! He's a perfect example of why declawing is selfish and dangerous, though. The poor guy wouldn't even be able to escape up a tree if cornered by larger animals (this happened to a friend's cat, unfortunately).

If you haven't done so already, you may want to check with your local SPCA and other shelters to see if anybody has contacted them re: losing him. Shelters will sometimes open up files for missing cats. I used to think that contacting local vets' offices was a good idea, too, since many vets post "missing" posters in their lobbies. When we'd found Maudie, though, I gave up after calling three places and finding the most uncooperative staff (including my own vet's staff -- she heard about that later) who wouldn't even go look at the postings in their own office to see if she was listed.

What do the rest of your cats think about him?

The other cats don't seem to mind much, except for Mocha, our resident scardy-cat has been keeping her distance. Scrap growls at Felix everytime he passes by him, but Felix completely ignores him. Hilarious. :-)

He's so cute! Poor little guy. He's so lucky you took him in. He can't possibly fend for himself without claws.

He is such a cutie! I feel sorry for him to lose his claws. Declawing isn't even legal here and the thought of it being done always upsets me.
