I had called 'shotgun,' but I was beginning to regret it as we slalomed along Mulholland at 3 AM. Your left foot worked the clutch like a demon as your right did double duty, heel-and-toeing the brake and accelerator. You at least had the steering wheel to hang on to, but my inertia was tossing me back and forth as the Maserati careened around the dangerous curves. I wasn't about to pussy out and use both hands to hold onto the door.

I still remember watching you walk out of the bathroom and quickly close the door behind you, shooting me that "We need to talk" look. Just for an instant, so Morgan and Robb and Alan wouldn't notice. Especially Robb and Alan. But I caught your meaning and came over to talk.

I was the one who'd originally voiced the idea - what we'd have to do in this situation - but I wasn't really ready for it. Honestly, I don't think I could have found the initiative to do it on my own. But for some reason, when you told me to do it, I knew that I would. Well, there was that time we took a girl's weekend to drive up to San Francisco for an all-weekend LARP. Our villainous duo nearly brought down the game early Sunday morning, but we decided to reign back our evilness and let those silly good guys win. To this day, they still think it was a fair victory.
