Last Night

Last night was great fun. I decided that I didn't want to eat alone, so I invited over Mikolaj, Anya, and Robert. :) I made up sausage with potatoes, onions, and green bell peppers and everyone really liked it. It's a dish that my mom used to make a lot when I was younger that I really enjoyed. Anyway, Mikolaj brought over some tasty red wine that ( Read more... )

Sorry if this comment seems somewhat off-topic, but you mentioned gluten-free foods and new years resolutions. well, I'm Jewish, and I'm always trying to avoid gelatin in foods, but people often assume I mean gluten. as I understand it, gluten-free foods are important for a very small percentage of people have celiac disease and are gluten intolerant, but the way people around here (in grocery stores, particularly) are talking about it, gluten is considered a generally bad thing to consume. I've asked around and looked online, but I haven't found much information. I'm really lost, and nobody around here seems to know anything specific. meanwhile, I'm trying to encourage people to have a gelatin-free diet. sheesh!

Well, it's not actually a bad thing to consume.. It's basically in bread, beer, and an assortment of wheat products. Mikolaj's family actually does have a tendency to be gluten-intolerant. His sister and his father can't eat normal bread products. It wasn't really gelatin that they meant at all. :) Do you have a more specific question that I can help with?

hmm, nah, you pretty well answered it. around here it seems to be a fad. people are talking about it like it's a matter of quality food versus junk food, and I would have to guess that they're simply confused. q-: just seems like a very large group of confused people, but I guess that's what Winchester, Virginia is.
