WELL, guys, as it turns out, my karma catches up to me. This weekend managed to be even more inconvenient than the last one to be typing up a Twilight review

Honestly I think they have the potential to develop. We see glimpses of it every so often, but it's quashed instantly afterwards, like Meyer is so determined to keep them cardboard cutouts so that her ~*~PERFECT ROMANCE~*~ will stay intact that she's not even willing to let her characters grow by themselves.
I loathed Bella's lack of feeling toward her near rape experience. Seriously, what the fuck? She forgets a traumatic experience just because Edward comes and saves her? It's not only bad writing, but it's belittling to people who've undergone experiences like that or worse.
LORD. During that car scene, I just wanted to tell them to SHUT UP. The dialogue is just "I love you" "No, you can't!" "But I love you!" "But I'm dangerous!" "NO I LOVE YOU" So boring, especially because this is most of the dialogue in the book.
One thing I actually wanted to bring up, because I see it as the equivalent of a freaking anime--why is Edward attending high school when he's as old as dirt? Wouldn't he get sick of turning in the same damn papers every year?
Yeah. I could understand if he looked younger, around fifteen or so. But no, he is seventeen.
He appears old enough to pass as an adult, and have a JOB somewhere. There's no reason to have him attend a school to begin with, and in fact there's reason AGAINST it since, uhm, HELLO, why stick a vampire in the middle of a whole bunch of young, vulnerable students, many of whom are all hormonal and would do ANYTHING to get close to him, therefore putting themselves in danger (AKA BELLA)?
He should have a job somewhere that doesn't involve a whole lot of interaction with people.
