One thing which has always struck me as unrealistic in Shakespeare’s works are his unrealistic love stories. He paints love in such a way as to make it seem immediate and all encompassing, but in real life it is rarely ever this way. When flicking through my commonplace book, I found an entry I had written about my early impressions of Henry IV. I talked about how Henry was being backstabbed by his men, and was oblivious to this, and more importantly how this could happen- and most likely does happen- to all of us by our friends. So this week, as we all know, we went on a little excursion to the State Library. What surprised me was that on the tour a lot of people said that they’d never used it before...
