For this entry I have decided to focus on Shakespeare’s Sonnet 65, which was my favourite of those selected for this week’s readings. Our tutorial this week consisted of discussion over the contrast in the language of Theseus and Hippolyta in the opening pages of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. I find this topic very fascinating. This was in relation to the two poems by Marlow and Ralegh: “The Passionate shepherd to His Love” and “The Nymph’s Reply to the Shepherd”. Alas, we begin this year with our numbers halved (or more)... We have lost the non-lit majors most of us were used to seeing in our tutes and lectures, and remaining are those of us absolutely dedicated to the world of literature. Well we’ve finally reached week 12, and I have one word to describe how I’m feeling at the moment. Exhausted. So this week, I have taken advantage of the fact that I covered Arcadia in my last post, and doing a little creative piece... a poem… which conveys my exact feelings at the present moment.

This week saw my group in rehearsal and preparation for our delivery of the second half of Scene Seven, in Stoppard’s Arcadia. Initially, I found Under Milk Wood to be a very difficult text, and I was at a loss for what significance it had to our study of both drama and 20th Century Literature.
