What I did on my summer vacation...

Once upon a time, I posted a hint at Something Big happening chez moi.

The good news is that the work is finished.

*does goofy looking Happy Dance*

The annoying news is that I'm having a terrible time getting the photos uploaded to show you all what I've been busy with.

Grrrr.

At least I can give you a general idea of the before:

This is GORGEOUS! I am absolutely envious. What is the countertop material? Granite?

Gah, I'm an idiot and also sleepy. Ignore that question. I can see where you mention the granite. That is ia huge piece of stone. Is it all one piece or did they put down two pieces and buff the seam?

It's really incredible. Now you have to have a party.

Your before is pretty spiffy and looks much nicer than my kitchen does.

If the before looks "spiffy" it's only thanks to the magic of the photographer's distance from the subject and a cheap camera.

Large chunks of the floor were missing (and what wasn't missing was chipped, cracked and coming unglued), the laminate countertops were unglued, stained, chipped and scratched, the sides of the cabinets had separated from each other and their doors wouldn't close, the fridge door was so out of level that it would swing all the way open into the adjacent cabinet even when you opened it a crack, 2 of the four cooktop burners didn't work, one of the two ovens didn't work... *gasps for breath*.

So yeah. Definitely not "spiffy" except through the magic of soft focus.

We're both very lucky ~ I'd love to have two more kittens! *is distracted by teh cuteness of your icon*

But yeah, the kitchen is definitely a treat. As my Leading Man put it, this is the kitchen we should have put in 10 years ago. Better late than never!

That's lovely! (But there's no kitty in the new kitchen!) I know you'll be putting it to hours of good use.

Oh, I have pictures of kitties in the kitchen ~ if I can figure out how to get Picasa and LJ to get along, I'll post them. The boys have inspected the new space from top to bottom, as you might expect.

Cooking has already begun and I luuuurrrrve it!
